ovation-leather-gag-cheek-piece
Leather Gag Cheek Piece

Maintain impeccable hunter-jumper style while utilizing the re-balancing leverage of a gag bit with the Ovation® Leather Gag Cheek Pieces. While casual training arenas often feature rope-style gag cheeks, competitive show rings frequently demand a more traditional, high-end appearance. Ovation® meets this standard by swapping out bright white cords for a beautifully rolled, genuine leather center strap, delivering a sophisticated "all-leather" aesthetic that seamlessly blends with your premier show bridle.

The core of each cheek piece is meticulously stitched into a dense, rounded (rolled) leather architecture. This smooth, round shape is specifically designed to slide effortlessly through the specialized teardrop rings of a standard gag snaffle. When a forward horse pulls or leans, engaging the reins slides the rounded leather upward, creating instant leverage that safely raises the mouthpiece while applying clear poll pressure. Because the leather is highly polished and pre-conditioned, it ensures a clean, predictable sliding action and a smooth, reliable release.

Both ends of the cheek pieces feature master-crafted flat leather terminations with elegant tonal stitching. The top section features a traditional buckle and a classic hook-and-stud fastener to attach firmly to your bridle's crownpiece. The bottom end features a heavy-duty, mirror-polished stainless steel ring to anchor your reins securely. Durable, functional, and classically styled, these leather gag cheeks are the definitive choice for riders who need precise elevator leverage without sacrificing a traditional turnout.
